Survival Is A Song
Jul 05 2010 07:21:42 I loved the video, I had one idea to try redesign the the sledge hammer to be more efficient. I had one concern about the use of the plastic bottles. Would they decompose creating an unstable structure? I'm not sure how they used, but the thought came to my mind.

Survival Is A Song
Aug 12 2010 22:42:21 I was lucky enough to visit your Taos community several years ago. What a
fantastic idea and effort to change/help save the world! Have you ever built an animal containment building with outside access runs for animals? I've volunteered at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary (non-profit) in Kanab, Utah and thought about asking them if they considered using Earthship structures which make so much sense. Do you know of any communities in southern Utah? I hope to relocate there on retiring and would love to build or buy an earthship myself. Keep up the GREAT work! Live well, laugh often and love much! Michael Reynolds' Waste Vegetable Oil Mercedes - WVO
Apr 22 2010 18:41:37 Michael I've been running my vehicles on VO for four years now. Remember to test for water before you run your tee-shirt filtered VO. I see you have a single tank set-up. Be careful during winter starting up on a high VO%.

Re:Michael Reynolds' Waste Vegetable Oil Mercedes - WVO
Apr 22 2010 18:47:43 Can one do the VO conversion himself? I suspect one must change the injection timing. How much would it cost to have a mechanic do the conversion?

Re:Michael Reynolds' Waste Vegetable Oil Mercedes - WVO
May 03 2010 17:46:46 How well does the car run with that fuel mix (I believe M says "half diesel" in the video)? Is there any evidence of bad effects on the engine, gunking up the cylinders or fuel pump or whatever? I've been intrigued by veg oil diesel for quite a while. Other than the already-stated point about the effects of cold weather, plus the issue of availability, are there any other drawbacks people can share from their experiences?

Earth Angels
by Michael Reynolds | earthship.com/michael-reynolds-blog
Angels have been spoken of for centuries.
They have been described as winged creatures, spirit creatures
that occupy the streets of heaven.
The place where the good souls of earth go to.

Earth Angels
Apr 23 2010 15:56:10 I also aspire to be an Earth Angel, I try the best I can now to do my part but want to do more, I want to build an Earth Ship and eventually get to the point where I can help others more and in better ways than I do now, but I need the help of other Earth Angels to realize my hopes and dreams which will help me in turn to help others realize they're hopes and dreams, but the financial aspect is the biggest restriction for me and I believe for most people like me in the world today, you can only do so much without adequate finances. Many want to be energy dependent and self reliant but because of the high initial cost of becoming dependent it is impossible and they remain in the grip of energy companies and other huge corporations which basically have a stranglehold on most of society. I think most people in this situation feel like there is little or no hope of getting out of the grip they have on them, which is what the energy companies want, they're in the business to make money. Becoming energy independent is a dream of many people but is in reality an impossibility for your average person because of the high cost . I'm ready to do more and will help anyone I can if I have the ability, skills or whatever needed to help out.

Q & A: Michael Reynolds Earthship Architect
Contributed by Mike Kitts
LONDON, England (CNN) -- CNN caught up with Michael Reynolds, "biotect" of Earthships, in Taos, New Mexico.
What are your hopes for the future of Earthships?
It started off as individual homes, now we have two or three communities going. I hope to see in my lifetime to see towns and cities built this way. If you're a huge developer and you want to build a small town you have to put in millions of dollars of infrastructure before you begin.

Q & A: Michael Reynolds Earthship Architect
Jun 08 2010 16:18:52 On the last question about if it's your life.
Man, I wish I can stand there one day when my hair is gray to (hehe) and say the exact same thing. Biggest eulogy to all of you out there making it your life! You are all one of the good guys! too bad I always feel like I'm in a rush, or some kind of frustration. I don't know what to do with all my entusiasm (right now I'm pounding tires by myself with a little help from people from time to time, even more frustrating!). Would be nice with an article on how to inspire people so much that it'd be possible to make a team out of it. peace and love to all ya'll that makes the carbon zero housing come true! |
